Proverbs 22:6 says train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. As our children are returning back to school I want to make sure we are fully preparing them for the school year. I know that you went out and purchased their nice outfits or their uniforms. You purchased their books, book bags and all the necessities you think they will need. Some people would stop right there because they believe that's all that their children need.
I find it interesting that we take precaution to vaccinate our children from viruses and diseases that we haven't seen in years. However many don't take precautions to cover their spirit. Children are constantly attacked in school by depression, peer pressure and all kinds of bullying to name a few. We send our children in an environment where there is all different kinds of cultures, religion, corruption, brokenness, perversion, life styles and a host of other things. Children carry whatever is present into their households. They are like little sponges soaking up everything that they come in contact with. That's why I find it funny when parents are in a tumultuous relationship, and they swear the children have no idea what's going on. (I know you are laughing with me about that statement) I hope we all know that statement is so far from the truth. The reality is that the children are well aware of what's going on; actually they probably understand the problem better than the parents do. I say all of that to say that you must prepare your children physically, emotionally and spiritually for them to have a successful school year. That's why you must do like the Bible says train up the children in the way he/she should go.
Let them know that they are the head and not the tail, that they are a chosen people a Royal Priesthood. Make sure their heads are held up because they are the king’s children. Make sure that they know that God did not give them the spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind. Remind them that they can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens them. Remind them that the righteous has never been forsaken nor their seed begging for bread. Let the children know that God wants us to show love one to another. Please let them know all of the blessings of God and the desire God has to give them,.Teach them about having faith the size of a mustard seed, and speaking to mountains and telling them to be moved!
Listen people of God you will only get out of your children what you put in them (I just said a mouth full) pray with your children and let them see your relationship with God. I learned that, praying is time that you spend talking with God and that you don't allow anyone to interrupt that time. I remember when my mother would be in her room praying and we would walk in to ask her for something. However she would not respond to us. I would see her on her knees with her legs shacking, and sometimes she would be crying. We learned quickly that she was in prayer talking with God and she was not going to respond until she finished her with conversation with him. We learned to respect her time with God, when we walked in on her and saw that she was praying, we would walk away and not say a word (she trained us well). Please remember that whatever you put into your children is what you’re going to get out. Why not let it be something wonderful!
Lord I pray that you cover every child that is in school. Lord cover them from kindergarten to college from all hurt harm and danger, keep them Lord. Lord I pray that every parent will pray over and with their children in this school year. God I pray that your spirit is increased in the schools this year. Lord I bind every spirit of depression, every suicide spirit, peer pressure and bullying spirit, right now in the name of Jesus Amen!
