Has this scenario ever happen to you? God place a vision in your mind to do something great or small, and your initial thoughts were that's a great idea. Then as you sat there thinking about how you could bring the vision to fruition, doubt began to creep in. Then you start to feel overwhelmed and your thoughtsbecome how can I possibly pull this thing off. You start downingyourself saying “Well I can't do it because I don't have the skills or the knowledge.” You tell yourself I have never done this before, this vision that God gave me must be for somebody else (as if God makes mistakes). We lay out all kinds of excuses I'm too old, I'm too young, I'm too short or I'm too fat, you name it,we'll use it to not complete our assignments.
Once doubt has fully had its way with you then his big brother steps in, his name is fear! Doubt will stole you but fear will absolutely cripple you and send you to hide and take cover (No seriously). Have you ever been so afraid to face something that you couldn't get out of bed, you just hide under your covers? Fear can literally make you sick or even kill you! (That's why they have the term scared to death). Fear have stolen jobs, marriages, children, business, homes, cars, and even vacations from people. I read an article that said about 70% of Americans don't use their vacation time. Why? Because fear has convince them that if they go on vacation someone else is going to take their job, or that the company will realize they no longer need them (I'm in the 30%, because I believe what God has for me is for me, and when one door shuts a better one opens). Some people would probably say no I don't go on vacation because I can't afford it. My answer to that is haven't you ever heard of a stay-cation? (that means you take your vacation time and stay home).
How do you overcome fear? I'm so glad you ask! You first must realize that you can do all things through Christ Jesus. Why? Because doubt comes first and if you can cast down doubt his big brother fear won't show up. When doubt says you can't do anything, you reply I can do it because God says I can. When doubt says well you don't know what you're doing, you reply I might not know but my God knows all things (I say my because you have to take ownership! I belong to God and He belongs to me) and that's enough for me. When doubt says this is going to turn out bad for you, you reply, you can't write my story God is the author of my life. When doubt says that sickness is going to kill you, you reply no weapon formed against me shall prosper (I think you get it by now, fight back with the word!)
Listen if doubts big brother fear shows up, don't let him bully you! You have someone greater than he, call on the name of Jesus. Why? Because at the name of Jesus demons tremble! The next time fear has you hiding under your covers or feeling like your heart is going to come out of your chest. I dare you to just start calling on the name of Jesus. Say I need you right now Jesus, come see about me Jesus. I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind and my heart right now, fear you are a liar and I rebuke you in the name of Jesus! (My God I Feel That !). I promise you that fear is afraid when Jesus walks in the room!
People of God listen the Bible says God did not give you the spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind. I remind myself of this scripture all the time and after I say that scripture, I say I don't want anything God didn't give me. Don't allow fear to ever cripple you again, you have power over it. I encourage you to use that power don't let fear win not one more battle. Remember when in doubt use the word, when in fear call on Jesus!
